School Counselor’s Message

Welcome to Central Middle School, home of the Mustangs.

I’ve had the pleasure of being the School Counselor at CMS since Jan. 2002, and I’m also a graduate. As the school counselor I work with students, teachers, parents, administrators and the community.

I started my career in Education at Arundel Elementary School under the supervision of Jean Dehner back in 2000. She happened to be my school counselor at CMS many years earlier.

As the school counselor I address the developmental needs of all students through a comprehensive school counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of students.
I work with students individually, in groups and in classrooms. I also conference with parents and teachers often. I facilitate Student Study Teams and 504c plan meetings.

I’m fortunate to interact with all four grade levels throughout the year. Monthly I run life skill lessons with both the 5th and 6th graders. I teach goal setting lessons each trimester with the 7th graders. I facilitate the Career Technical Education Program, brought to us by the San Mateo County Office of Education, with the 8th graders throughout the year.

I am an active member of the American School Counselors Assoication (ASCA).
