Assistant Principal’s Message

Hello Central Middle School families! I am so excited to be the Assistant Principal of CMS. It’s a school that has fantastic students, teachers, parents and community members. I’d like to introduce myself to you so that you can learn a little about me.

I’ve been in the field of education for a little over twenty years. I started out as a 1st grade teacher in the Redwood City School District, but also taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades. I also helped to found and run a school-wide Arts program that served all of the K-5 students at my school.

I’ve managed the Education team at The Tech Museum of Innovation. There I created labs for students to participate in, while also working with teachers to find ways to strengthen their science curriculum and teaching to be more hands on and connected to real world problem solving.

I worked for the New Teacher Center out of UC Santa Cruz, where I was assigned to the Ravenswood School District (in East Palo Alto) to mentor teachers and support administrators and school personnel to improve teaching and learning in the district.

I arrived at San Carlos School District in March, 2010 to help launch the Enterprise fund efforts. This included the design, development and implementation of the Heather Preschool, the SMART-E Camps and the SMART-E After School Program. I had a few other jobs in the district office as well. This all changed in January of 2011 when I joined CMS as the Assistant Principal.

I have two wonderful children, Ethan (age 7) and Ashleigh (age 11) who live with me in San Jose. They attend their neighborhood school with their friends in San Jose.

I am thrilled to work with such an amazing community of learners, teachers, and supporters. Central Middle School is truly a special place to be.
